Looking Back: 2017 Dangal ng Lipi

Did you know?

A year ago, MSI Jr. Founder and Head Coach, Rafael Nicolas "Coach Paeng" Dionisio was awarded at the 2017 Dangal ng Lipi - sa Larangan ng Isports at the The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, Malolos, Bulacan on 15 September 2017.

Through his endeavour to train and help athletes finish their college, as of today, more than 80 student-athletes gained full scholarship in universities like University of Santo Tomas, far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, National University and Bulacan State University.

Del Pilarian Shuttlers Gold and Silver Medalists at the 31st Milo Little Olympics

Del Pilarian Shuttlers, also part of the MSI Jr., finished in triumph at the 31st Milo Little Olympics held last September 7-9, 2018 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl, Baguio City.

Headed by Coach Paeng Dionisio and assisted by Coach Beverly Albaña, the Boys and Girls Team won the Gold and Silver medals respectively. Also, Mark Anthony Bernal received the Most Valuable Player award.

We are grateful for your hard work, our warm CONGRATULATIONS to all of you!

We would like to extend also our grateful appreciation to Honourable Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad and City Sports Coordinator Anthony "Toti" Villanueva for your continuous support to our athletes.

The MILO LITTLE OLYMPICS is the DEVELOPMENTAL version of the Summer Olympic Games.

Philippine Junior Badminton Team joins Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games in Tokyo, Japan

From 28th to 30th August 2015, Tokyo Metropolitan Government will host the Asia Junior Sports Exchange Games 2015 to contribute to the progress of youth athletic ability and the development of the next generation of athletes.

Incredibly talented young athletes from 18 international and Japanese cities will come together for keen badminton and table tennis competitions. 

Qualifiers are Bangkok, Delhi, Hanoi, Hong Kong*, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Tomsk*, Ulaanbaatar, Yangon, Iwate Pref., Miyagi Pref., Fukushima Pref., Ibaraki Pref., Tokyo (*Table Tennis only)

In Badminton, Manila competes with Seoul today, 28th August 2015 after the opening ceremony at Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground Gymnasium (1-1 Komazawakoen, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo).

Sun Cellular shuttlers vying in Tokyo tourney

A WELL-HONED Philippine badminton team is set to see action in the Asian Junior Sports Exchange 2015 on Aug. 25 to 31 in Tokyo.

The team is made up of Jewel Albo, Ian Maui Santos, Ramon Timothy Santos, Mikaela Joy de Guzman, Mica Airah Ibong and Olivia Jean Sanvictores, all products of the Sun Cellular National Juniors Badminton tournament.

Rafael Nicolas Dionisio and Wilfredo Albo will coach the squad.

Meanwhile, the Mindanao leg of the Sun Cellular Badminton tournament gets going on Aug. 21 to 23 at Smash N’ Drop Badminton Center in San Pedro Extension, Davao City.
Organizer Forthright Events and Sports Management Inc. is now accepting registrants at suncellularjuniors.com until Aug. 15.

The event is bankrolled by Sun Cellular and MVP Sports Foundation and backed by Smash Pilipinas and Victor.

TOP JRS. VIE IN ASIAN SPORTS EXCHANGE BADMINTON

Jewel Albo, Ian Maui Santos and Ramon Timothy Santos head the national team vying against the top players in the region in the Asian Juniors Sports Exchange 2015 slated Aug. 25-31 in Tokyo.

Joining the squad are Mikaela Joy de Guzman, Mica Airah Ibong and Olivia Jean Sanvictores, all products of the Luzon qualifier of the Sun Cellular National Juniors Badminton tournament.

Coaches Rafael Nicolas Dionisio and Wilfredo Albo will handle the squad whose stint is sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association.

Meanwhile, the Mindanao leg of the Sun Cellular badminton circuit will be held Aug. 21-23 at the Smash N’ Drop Badminton Center in San Pedro Extension, Davao City.

The top performers of the three-day event sponsored by Sun Cellular and MVP Sports Foundation and backed by Smash Pilipinas and Victor exclusively distributed by Pcome Industrial Sales Inc. will gain berths in the national finals next month.

Smart Sports’ Christopher Quimpo said the circuit is part of the MVP Sports Foundation’s efforts to discover talents in the countryside and train and develop them to become members of future national pools.

MSI Jr. dominates 2014 Batang Pinoy National Finals

Malolos shuttlers dominate BP badminton tilt


MALOLOS City shuttlers dominated the badminton event of the just-concluded 2014 Batang Pinoy National Finals held at Pohang Badminton Center in Bacolod City.

The Bulacan-based badminton teams topped four of the six categories where they saw action.

Charles Carpio and Jeff Alisandro Cruz captured gold medals in the 12 years old and under boys doubles while Laguna Province’s Ron Jacob Galve and Rish Miguel Laboy secured the silver medals.

Carpio and Cruz also won bronze medals in the 12 years old and under singles division.
Laguna’s Carl Louis Canillo and Nestojan Tapales as well as Bacolod City’s tandem of Josh Elijah Templora and Rail Brian Rosadia settled for bronze medals.

In the 12 years old and under singles, Rizal’s Jewel Angelo Albo won the gold as Galve of Laguna settled for silver.

Malolos City’s Chanel Lunod and Qianxi Orillaneda flourished as they captured the gold and silver in the 15 years old and under girls singles and doubles.

Negros Occidental bet Danielle Grace Lopez and Mia Mangalimutan settled for silver medals as another Malolos team of Kristine Geronimo and Elizabeth Pimentel and Balamban’s Tricia Opon and Rose Tingson took home bronze medals.

Opon and Geronimo likewise settled for bronze in the 15 years old and under girls singles.
Malolos also dominated the 15 years old and under boys doubles as Bernardo siblings, Mathew and Bernard, defeated the Davao City duo of Estarco Balasco and Arthur Salvado in the finals.

Bacolod City’s Cody Torres and Justin Daniel Anglo alongside Hero Catud and Renan Masongsong finished bronze. Mathew Bernardo and Torres also settled for bronze in the 15 years old and under singles event.

Cagayan de Oro’s Daniel Pantanosas outplayed Ryan Jay Duromal of Balamban, Cebu to capture the gold medal in the 15 years old and under boys’ singles.

In the 12 years old and under girls singles, Taytay Rizal’s Anthea Marie Gonzalez ruled over Laguna’s Jochelle Alvarez to win the gold medal as another Taytay shuttler Olivia Jean Sanvictores and Cagayan’s Nevie Jane Natan settled for bronze.

Gonzalez teamed with Sanvictores and won the gold in the girls doubles as Cagayan’s Maxene Olango and Natan finished silver. Cadiz City’s Denise Agudo and Sophia Betita, and Negros Occidental’s Aira Gallardo and Kisha Tupas finished with bronze.

The tournament was supervised by the Philippine Badminton Association technical committee headed by Judith Borsula.

SEEDING, DRAW AND DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

a.    The deadline of submission of entries is on Friday, 16 May 2014.
b.    The seeding of player will be based on the ranking in the most recent PBA-sanctioned national tournaments but the information must be indicated properly in the player’s entry form.
c.    Draws will be done on Saturday, 17 May 2014 at Redoil Badminton Court in Tikay, Malolos City, Bulacan.
d.    Representatives of the participating clubs and teams are invited to witness the draw.


REGULATIONS FOR AGE GROUP

I.             YEAR OF BIRTH FOR AGE CATEGORY

1996 – 1997                    UNDER 19 YEAS OLD
1998 – 1999                    UNDER 17 YEARS OLD
2000 – 2001                    UNDER 15 YEARS OLD
2002 – 2003                    UNDER 13 YEARS OLD
2004 – ONWARDS            UNDER 11 YEARS OLD


II.           ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES

a.  A player must have a good standing with the Philippine Badminton Association.
b.  A player must be Filipino citizens.
c.  A player must submit a photocopy of their NSO Birth Certificate or any legal document that will certify their age, e.g. Passport.
d. A player may be entered in a maximum of three (3) events and a maximum of two (2) events per age category.
e.  A player will be assessed an entry fee of Php400.00 for the first entry; Php200.00 for the second entry; and Php100.00 for the third entry.

III.         EVENTS

UNDER 17 YEARS OLD   –        BS, GS, BD, GD, XD

IV.         COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

The tournament will run in accordance to the Rules and Regulations of the Badminton World Federation and the Philippine Badminton Association. The format will be single elimination in all age group categories.


REGULATIONS FOR COMBINED AGE GROUP

I.             ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES
a. A player must have a minimum age of 30 years old during the competition.
b.   A player must have a good standing with the organizing committee.
c.   A player must not be a member of the National Team.
d.  A player is required to furnish a photocopy of any government-issued ID as proof of their age, e.g. driver’s  license, passport.
e.  Entry fee per player is Php600.00; and an additional Php400.00 for the second event.

COMBINED AGE 70-79    –        MD, LD, XD
COMBINED AGE 80-89    –        MD, LD, XD
COMBINED AGE 90-99    –        MD, LD, XD

III.         COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

a.  SCORING – All events 1 to 35 rally point. No setting. Intervals, breaks and continuity of play will be managed by the umpire.
b.  TOURNAMENT FORMAT – Single round robin minimum of 3 games for each group. In case of only one group formed, top 2 teams will play the championship match. In case of two or more groups are formed, top team of each group will play the championship match.
c.  INDEMNITY – The organizing committee and its appointed officials shall not be responsible for any injuries or mishaps that may occur during the competition or as a result of the participation in the tournament,
d.   In all matters not covered by the preceding rules, the decision of the organizing committee shall be final.
